State President Mark was born a Buckeye and became a Hoosier. Born in 1966, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he is the youngest of four children. At the age of seven, Mark and his family moved to Hidden Valley Lake, Indiana.

Mark's Jaycee career began like many members. Asked by a buddy to help out at the Dearborn Jaycees Haunted House, Mark agreed and there began his life as a Jaycee in November 1987 under President Darrell Voelker. While finishing his History degree from Northern Kentucky University, Mark served as a Local Director. The following year, 1989, saw Mark serve as Deaborn's Management Development Vice President. It was also during this year that Mark met his future wife Ann while working a project. An avid reader and writer, Mark excelled in Write Up and received the state's year end award in that area.

Mark Stenger, 71st President

Following his year as Management Development Vice President, Mark was elected to the office of President in 1990 to serve with State President Mike Shipe. During this year, Dearborn attained the status of Blue Chip Chapter, continuing the chapters excellence. In 1992 Mark began his career at the statewide level by serving as a District Director for then President Mike Malott. He completed two extensions and finished the year the number three DD in the state. After finishing his year as District Director Mark went on to serve as Indiana's Write Up Program Manager for President Mike Marshall and transferred his membership to Batesville.

In 1995 Mark again served as District Director for then Region Director Alan Richmer and State President Rick Lippert. This time, he completed one extension and finished the year the number one DD in the state. For his accomplishments, Mark was rewarded at annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, with an M. Keith Upson Memorial Award. After serving as Chairman of the successful Alan Richmer for President Campaign, Mark was tapped to serve as Alan's Presidential Assistant. Four months into the year, Region Eight's Director had to resign and Mark was elected to fill the remainder of his term. The region grew for five consecutive months and completed two extensions. After completing his commitments to the region, Mark went on to play a role in Mike Marshall's USJCC Presidential Campaign.

Turning his attention to the business sector of our organization, Mark became Region Eight's Corporate Finance representative, served as the committee's Secretary in 1998 for President Deb Spinney and began his dual membership with Madison. Mark also served as the co-chair of the Outstanding Young Hoosier program. After serving as secretary, Mark was elected chairman of the committee in his final year for President Eric Brown. Due to the hard work of several Region Eight Jaycees, Indiana was awarded the opportunity to host the 2000 National Outstanding Young Farmers Congress in Indianapolis. Mark served as Chair of this national agricultural event.

Most recently in 2000, Mark was appointed to serve as Administrative President for President Amy Barber. Continuing his work in making the state organization less dependent on dues revenue, Mark helped to obtain over $10,000 in non dues revenue. "The Hoosier Jaycee" made a successful return in each trimester of 2000. For his fast start into the year Mark was recognized as the Outstanding Vice President of the First Trimester.

Beginning the campaign for State President in July of 2000, Mark chose the theme "Experience Matters." to illustrate his resume. His campaign was a rallying point for the Region Eight Jaycees as the Blue Team traveled en mass across the state in his support. On September 30, 2000, in Vincennes Mark was elected to serve you as your 2001 State President.

Currently Mark is employed by Met Life Auto & Home, based in Warwick, Rhode Island, as a member of their Special Investigations Unit. In his professional career you could say he works for "Snoopy."

In 2001, with Jaycees from across the state working together Mark knows Indiana will be successful because WE BELIEVE!
